Accra, the capital city of Ghana, is also the regional capital of oneof the sixteen (16) regions in Ghana - Greater Accra region.
Accra a bustling metropolis; a vibrant, unique and interesing city of contrasts, where the old blends with the new and tradition blends with foreign cultures. It is a city under construction with the rapid growth of high rise buildings, overhead road constructions, and new urban investments of shopping malls and residential apartments. This is sharply juxtaposed with sprawling townships, old suburbs and old colonial buildings

Visa on Arrival

Ghana entry visas are obtainable from any Ghanaian embassy, High Commission or Consulate abroad. However, ECOWAS member states and countries listed below do not require visa to enter the country:
1. ECOWAS member states
2. Southern and Eastern African Countries (Lesotho, Namibia, Malawi, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Zimbabwe)
3. Egypt and Rwanda
4. Trinidad and Tobago, Singapore, Mauritius, Seychelles
Visa on arrival is also issued to foreigners who come from other countries where there are no Ghana Embassies or are embarking on an Emergency visit to Ghana.

Weather

Accra has a humid and hot temperature (25 to 34 degrees Celsius). It experiences two rainy seasons from April - July and from September - November. From December to March, the city experiences dry Hama%an winds, which blows from the north of the country.
Accra is the nerve centre of Government administration and boasts of about 4 million inhabitants largely made up of rural-urban migrants. It is cosmopolitan, with many races, colours and creed of people represented.

LANGUAGE

Ghana can boast of a number of indigenous languages. However, the Akan language is widely spoken. English is the country's official language and dominates government and business affairs.

Banks - from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Currency

- Ghana Cedi (GH₵). (As of 25th March 2019)

• $ 1 = GHS 5.50
• € 1 = GHS 6.20
• £ 1 = GHS 7.00

The most widely accepted credit cards are American Express, Diner, Visa and MasterCard. Foreign currencies are freely exchanged at forex bureaux and banks.

RECOMMENDED ATTIRE

Light and casual clothing for warm and tropical climate.

LANGUAGE

The official language is English. Other languages spoken include Ga, Akan, Ewe, Dagbani and Hausa.
